CITY GUIDE · LOS ANGELES
Where to stay in Los Angeles: downtown towers near L.A. Live and the concert hall, converted 1920s landmarks in South Park, and Beverly Hills and Century City addresses on the Westside.
The hotels here fall into two broad groups. Downtown has the largest cluster: L.A. Live and the Convention Center area (JW Marriott, The Ritz-Carlton, Hotel Figueroa), the Wilshire Grand Center (InterContinental), Grand Avenue by Walt Disney Concert Hall (Conrad), and older 1920s buildings along Broadway and Olive Street (Downtown Los Angeles Proper Hotel, Hotel Per La). Downtown suits event-goers, business travelers and anyone who likes hotels with history, and the Metro makes it easy to get around without a car. The Westside group sits in and around Beverly Hills and Century City, with Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills close to Rodeo Drive and Robertson Boulevard shopping, Cameo Beverly Hills elsewhere in Beverly Hills, and Fairmont Century Plaza on Avenue of the Stars. Choose the Westside for shopping, dining and a quieter residential feel, and downtown for transit, arts venues and sports.
