Sanya's luxury hotels mostly line a few bays. Haitang Bay is where new resort development has concentrated in recent years, with international brands clustered together, big in scale and fully equipped; the Sofitel, EDITION and Rosewood in this article are all in this area. Dadonghai was developed earlier, sits right next to the city and is the easiest to get in and out of; the Mandarin Oriental is here. Farther west, Yalong Bay is ringed by mountains and sea and hides private bays enclosed by hills on three sides, such as Park Hyatt Sunny Bay. The five hotels listed in this article were picked one by one from the Sanya hotels currently on sale under our perks programs, with rates running from US$120 to over US$500 a night, so you can match them to your needs and budget.
Only two hotels in all of Sanya hold MICHELIN Keys, and one of them is among the five here: Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort, with one Key.

First, how we check prices: all prices below are advisor-channel rates for a check-in on November 1, 2026, a 3-night stay, 2 adults, taxes included, shown as the average nightly rate (the 3-night total divided by 3), in US dollars. This is the rate we can get when booking as an accredited travel advisor. It comes with a set of perks that cannot be booked through public channels, such as breakfast, room credits and upgrades subject to availability. Each hotel's section describes its specific perks, and before booking we confirm them with the hotel one by one and then put them on the guest's confirmation.
Hotels are sorted by average nightly rate from low to high, so you can get a sense of the range as you read on.

- Most worth visiting – EDITION: created by Ian Schrager, the first in Asia, with 12 terraced villas with private pools
- Most unique experience – Park Hyatt Sunny Bay: tucked in Sunny Bay in Yalong Bay, enclosed by hills on three sides, with the strongest sense of privacy
Sofitel Sanya Leeman Resort

The Sofitel is at 28 Haitang North Road and is one of the largest resorts in the Haitang Bay area, with 475 rooms, suites and sky villas in all. In its 191,000-square-meter tropical gardens are a 2,300-square-meter main pool and more than 3,000 square meters of leisure and entertainment facilities. It is about 5 km from the China Duty Free City, and not far from Wuzhizhou Island and Haichang Fantasy Town either.
For dining, the hotel has 4 themed restaurants and 3 bars covering Chinese, Western and Japanese cuisine, and breakfast is a buffet in the main restaurant.
If you are traveling with kids, this hotel's gardens, pool and children's facilities are the most extensive of the five, and its price is in the lowest tier.
Reference price: advisor channel average US$121 per night, US$362 for 3 nights, on refundable terms. Perks usually include breakfast for two, a US$100 hotel credit, a VIP welcome amenity, and early check-in, late checkout and a room upgrade subject to availability. Check this hotel's latest price →
Rosewood Sanya

Rosewood is in Haitang Bay. Its main structure is a 45-story, 233-meter tower shared by the hotel and serviced apartments, making it the tallest of the five. The hotel opened in August 2017 with 244 all-ocean-view rooms, ranging from 68 to 680 square meters, and some rooms have a private pool on the balcony. It was designed by the Hong Kong design studio AB Concept.
For dining, the hotel has 5 restaurants and lounges: East Kitchen serves refined home-style cooking, Fishmonger focuses on fresh fish, and Chop House is mainly steaks. On the 13th floor there is also an infinity pool and the Sense spa.
If you want a large, open-plan ocean-view room and a high floor to look out over the sea, this hotel's sense of space stands out most among the five.
Reference price: advisor channel average US$364 per night, US$1,091 for 3 nights, on refundable terms, for the 68-square-meter Ocean View King room, the same as the hotel's public price. With the price equal, booking through the advisor channel usually adds breakfast for two, a US$100 dining or spa credit, a one-category room upgrade, and a welcome amenity from the hotel's general manager. Mandarin Oriental, Sanya

The Mandarin Oriental is not in Haitang Bay but at Coral Bay in Dadonghai, right next to downtown Sanya, about 3 km from the city center and about 20 km from Phoenix International Airport, the closest of the five to the city. The hotel opened in 2009 with 296 rooms, designed by Bill Bensley together with LTW Design Works, and sits on a 1.2-km private beach and 12 hectares of tropical gardens.
For dining, the hotel keeps Mandarin Oriental's usual standard, with both Chinese and Southeast Asian cuisine.
If you want to stay close to the city and get in and out easily without giving up international-brand service standards, this hotel has the best location.
Reference price: advisor channel average US$364 per night, US$1,091 for 3 nights, on non-refundable terms, for the Terrace Room with a terrace. For the same period the Expedia promotional rate with breakfast is US$328 per night, so the advisor rate is about 11% higher, and the difference is made up in perks: breakfast for two, a US$100 dining or spa credit, a one-category room upgrade, and early check-in and late checkout subject to availability. If your plans are already fixed and you don't need these extras, the public promotional rate saves more. Check this hotel's latest price →
The Sanya EDITION

The EDITION is in Haitang Bay. It is the first EDITION in Asia and the fourth in the world from Ian Schrager's EDITION brand, opened in 2016. It has 501 rooms, plus 12 terraced villas built into the hillside, with private pools and open-air pavilions.
For dining, The Jade Egret serves modern European cuisine with Asian flavors, Beach Barbacoa offers Indonesian beach barbecue in the style of Jimbaran Bay in Bali, and Xian Hai is the signature restaurant specializing in Cantonese cuisine and seafood.
If you want to stay at a Sanya hotel that ranks high in both design and buzz, this one is the most eye-catching in Haitang Bay.
Reference price: for the vast majority of the year (apart from certain peak dates), about US$166–349 per night before tax. For a check-in on November 1, 2026, the advisor-channel average is US$378 per night including taxes, US$1,135 for 3 nights, on non-refundable terms, for an ocean view room with a balcony, the same as the hotel's public price. With the price equal, booking through the advisor channel usually adds breakfast for two, a US$100 hotel credit, an upgrade and early check-in / late checkout subject to availability, and a welcome amenity from hotel management. If you want flexibility, Expedia has a refundable tier at the same price, so you can compare the two side by side. Check this hotel's latest price →
Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort

Park Hyatt Sunny Bay is inside the Yalong Bay National Tourist Resort Zone, at 5 Sunny Bay Road, enclosed by hills on three sides and facing the sea on the fourth, about 5 km from the main Yalong Bay area and about 24.5 km from Phoenix International Airport. The hotel opened in February 2015 with 207 rooms, including 26 suites and 17 villas, designed by the Belgian architect Jean-Michel Gathy and his Denniston team.
The terrain enclosed by hills on three sides makes it more private and quieter than the other Yalong Bay hotels, and it is the Park Hyatt property in China that puts the most emphasis on privacy.
If you want to spend your whole trip quietly in a bay ringed by hills, this should be the best fit in Sanya.
Reference price: advisor channel average US$546 per night, US$1,637 for 3 nights, on refundable terms, for the 62-square-meter Ocean View King room. For the same period the World of Hyatt member refundable rate is US$486 per night, so the advisor rate is about 12% higher, and the difference is made up in perks: breakfast for two, a hotel credit, priority room upgrade, and early check-in and late checkout. If you won't use these, the member rate is the better deal. Check this hotel's latest price →
